Travel Travel

It is the Golden Week National Day holidays in China, and we leave this saturday for Japan!

We are going to stay for a week in Osaka, and then do day trips to Nara and Kyoto. We'll head down south to Kobe for the scrumptious slices of cow and the onsen in the mountains...

It's going to be great.

I'll come back and work for a week, and then romp off to Singapore. I love this job!

You're probably already well-versed in things Japan, but just in case, IMHO, it's worth taking detours to:

- Fushimi Inari Taisha (I am partial to the torii - great for photography buffs).
- Arashiyama
- Himeji (the castle is the best I've seen in Japan. It's worth the trip just for that castle IMHO, esp. if you've a week-long JR railway pass).
- don't miss the Nishiki Market.
- Gingakuji is much nicer than its golden twin (Kinkakuji) if you're into the wabi-sabi scene.
- it's worth it to try an old fashioned ryokan with an onsen.

I've never liked Nara. But I suppose if you've not been yet, it's worth checking out the world's biggest indoor buddha. Be careful with the deers though, they're really mean - keep Sophie safe.

Bon voyage!
